LocatorX Partners with NeoCity Academy to Develop an Internship Program for Future STEM Leaders

The program provides a unique opportunity for high school students in Osceola County to gain real-world experience early in their academic journey.

LocatorX, a trusted provider of IoT-driven asset visibility solutions, announces a collaboration with NeoCity Academy, Osceola County’s premier STEM-focused public high school. This partnership provides access to an internship program for students earlier in their academic journey.

Students from NeoCity Academy will have the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in disciplines including the Internet of Things (IoT), software development, AI, and systems engineering. Students will collaborate directly with LocatorX teams to leverage what they learn in the classroom and from the mentors for projects.

“NeoCity Academy is one of the first of its kind in the nation. We are excited to provide students with this unique opportunity,” said Patrick Sebastian, CTO for LocatorX. “This program is about creating a direct bridge between the next generation of talent and the transformative technologies leveraged to solve challenges in business. It is about offering students the opportunity to showcase their understanding, execute projects in a high-paced environment, see the potential impact, and help clarify their interests.”

NeoCity Academy is known for its project-based, interdisciplinary approach to education. As one of the leading public high schools in the U.S. built on the Advanced Placement (AP) Capstone Diploma Program framework, NeoCity Academy fosters an environment where students engage in advanced research, critical thinking, and real-world problem solving. It ranks as the number one public high school in Central Florida, 11th in the state, and top 100 in the nation.

“Internships are usually offered at the collegiate level, and not something students are given the opportunity to experience at the high school level. Our mission is to offer students access to meaningful, project-based learning experiences,” commented Jeremiah Swartz, Experiential Learning and Partnerships Coordinator at NeoCity Academy. “We are fortunate to be able to collaborate with NeoCity partners to ensure that we deliver on our mission while empowering our students to explore their interests and help them determine their focus for after graduation.”

The Academy is located in Osceola’s NeoCity high-tech corridor, a 500-acre master planned campus focused on advanced technology and microelectronics. NeoCity has received critical funding from the Department of Defense, the U.S. Economic Development Administration, U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), and the Florida Department of Commerce. In addition to LocatorX, NeoCity is home to the NSF Florida Semiconductor Engine, SkyWater Technology, imec USA, BRIDG, the University of Florida’s Florida Semiconductor Institute, Plug and Play, Seoul National University, TEL, and SUSS MicroTec.
