LocatorX Secures Foundational Patent for Blockchain-Enabled Global Resource Locator Tag Technology

Patent creates disruptive edge and opens path to capture share of $37B Blockchain IoT Market

LocatorX, a secure IoT-driven asset visibility and AI-ready data provider, today announced it has been awarded a patent for Global Resource Locator Tag with Blockchain Technology (Patent No. 12,461,192). This proprietary innovation represents the ability to build upon the company’s existing foundation for significant advancement in secure, transparent, and tamper-proof asset tracking at the device level.

LocatorX’s patented technology combines real-time physical asset location tracking with blockchain's secure, immutable ledger capabilities. The unique patent allows future development to integrate blockchain technology directly at the hardware level, within the sensor chip itself.

“This patent award represents a defining moment for LocatorX as we continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in secure IoT technology,” said Chester Kennedy, CEO of LocatorX. “AI and IoT are at a critical opportunity intersection. This patent strengthens our ability to build future proof solutions that continue to power AI-driven solutions with trusted and reliable device data, allowing them to confidently operate and protect critical supply chains.”

This future chip-level approach represents the next evolution in IoT security and leverages existing knowledge to create the next-level tamper-proof asset tracking capabilities. Blockchain on the chip delivers:

- Protection at the point of data origin: Sensor data is encrypted and processed through cryptographic algorithms at the hardware level before transmission, making sensor tampering and data feed modification highly resistant to attack.
- Trusted digital identity: Hardware-level blockchain integration gives each physical device a trusted digital identity, enabling secure machine-to-machine interaction and breaking through the traditional physical-digital divide.
- Elimination of single points of failure: Security features integrated at the hardware level make devices immune to many cyber threats, as each device has a unique cryptographic identity that cannot be easily impersonated.
- Reduced latency and power efficiency: Hardware-level security eliminates the need for additional security layers that cause latency and data packet loss, while also being more power-efficient, critical for battery-powered IoT applications in remote locations.
- Data integrity from chip to cloud: Deploying security at the chip level enables zero-touch connections to cloud services and infrastructures, providing end-to-end security from chip to cloud.

Added Kennedy, “We work very closely with our partners. This paves the way to have additional meaningful collaboration with other innovators in the space. Working together we can continue to quickly shape the future of intelligent and secure IoT solutions.”

The timing of this patent award positions LocatorX to capture significant market share in a fast-growing sector. According to the latest Research and Markets report, the blockchain IoT market has grown from $1.68 billion in 2024 to $2.46 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $37 billion by 2032, expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 47.21%.
