Professor of Nanomaterials Oxford University

Professor Andrew Briggs is the inaugural holder of the Chair of Nanomaterials at the University of Oxford. His research interests focus on materials and techniques for quantum technologies and their incorporation into practical devices.

Current hot topics include vibrational states of nanotubes and charge transport through single molecules in graphene nanogaps.

He has nearly 600 publications, with over 16,000 citations. He additionally holds the Holliday Prize, from the Institute of Materials, the Metrology award for World Class Manufacturing, and the Honorary Fellow of Royal Microscopical.

His recent media appearances include “The Search for Evidence-based Reality” - Video presentation, Heidelberg, October 2012, and the “Experimental Implementations of Quantum Paradoxes” - Video presentation, Chapman University, California, August 2012
